The First Week!
We Made It!!
The first week is in the books! I can say that my first week jitters are now gone and I am ready and so excited for our year!
It was such a joy-filled week. I know for some, leaving your child on the first day was so hard. Hard for them and hard for you. I am honored that you are trusting me with the most important blessing in your life: your precious child. Please hear me when I say I do not take the responsibility of creating a home away from home lightly. It is my prayer that each of your children came home Tuesday or Wednesday talking about how much fun we had together! My goal in these first few weeks of school is mainly to make each of your children feel safe and loved at school. I want them to have fun and build relationships so they are excited to come back! Which is why this week we mostly just played together. We played games in our room, we played outside, we even played line games in the hallway! I heard lots of giggles and laughs, and made sure we saw at least one smile from each child everyday! :)
This week will continue on making your children feel safe and secure, and have lots of fun playing all together! We will also start to talk about what we do at school, and why school is important. I would love it if you can start asking your child what we talked about in school that morning! It is excellent for their recall, but also shows them that you also think school is important, because you want to talk about it with them.
I will also start to introduce more structure to our schedule. We are going to work our way up to our fully routined mornings over the next month. This week we are going to work on bathroom procedures (how many pumps of soap should you use, how many papers towels can you take...) as well as having our two circle times. We will have a morning greeting where we look at the color, letters, numbers, Bible verse, and shape of the month, as well as devotions and singing. Our second circle time will be later in the morning. This will be our circle time that is more focused on our theme (this month will be "school"). We will read stories, and I will introduce ideas and we will all get to dive into everything we are learning about! Both of these circles times will be shorter than typical for the first few weeks as your children adjust to sitting and listening to one another and to me.
I am excited for this week! Our Wednesday friends will also get to go on our first little adventure! We will be taking a bus to the High School for Convocation! ALL parents and students from both classes are welcome to come and join us! This will be a time for us all to gather as one Holland Christian Community and hear about the year ahead of us! We would love for you to join us! Convocation will begin at 9 in the Holland Christian High School gym!
Again, I am so grateful for the opportunity to partner with you in growing each of our precious children this year. They have already blessed me and I can not wait to watch each of them grow this year! Don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or curiosities you may have! See you next week!
Blessings,
Allison
