Week 4
Hello Families!
It was another week of introducing some more new things! As I'm sure most of you saw in your child's backpack, we had our first library time! Each week we will go to the library, read a story, and then give each student the opportunity to pick out a book. I sent all the books home in a bag in their backpack, so they have a place they know to put that particular book, to bring it back to school. The check out period for our library is 2 weeks, but if you would feel more comfortable having your child bring their book back every week, that is perfectly fine! This week in the library we will talk about how to properly take care of books. You will see a flier in each of your students book bags that talks about having clean hands, turning the pages carefully... etc. Feel free to keep this flier in their bag so they always have a reminder to be gentle with our libraries books!
This week we also introduced placemats with their name, picture, and hand prints on it. As well as, a name tag with their picture on it, to help tell them which color sit spot to sit on at circle time! This is to start helping them see their name associate it with themselves.
Now that our class has finished discussing each of our centers and how to appropriately behave in each one, we will start talking about our school rules and how to be a good friend. You will see some new rules with pictures up in our classroom throughout this week that Miss Hulst and I will be referring to when the students need little reminders on how we act in the classroom. Our rules will be:
- Be Safe
- Do Your Best
- Be a Friend
- Be Kind
- Listen
- Take Care of our School
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Class Pictures:
Our class pictures dates are September 18 and 19! I have scheduled our picture times to be from 8:30-8:50. I would love it if on those mornings you could bring your child to room 206 (when you walk in the front doors, turn left done the hall, instead of right) where I will greet you and help with pictures. Then if you could walk your child to the room and get them ready for the day, Miss Hulst will be there with activities, just like our normal morning. This way we can make sure that each student feels happy and comfortable getting their picture taken!
Grandparents Day:
Our Rose Park community would like to celebrate ALL of our children and ALL of our families/friends, preschool through sixth grade. We would like to invite our preschool grandparents/friends to celebrate and participate with our entire Rose Park community this upcoming Grandparents/friends Day. This is a new format for us and we're excited about the program with children, preschool through sixth grade worshipping and singing together. Your child's grandparents/friends are invited to our program on October 3 for the program in the gym at 9:30. Following the program, children will host their grandparents/friends in classrooms in an open house format from 10:15-11:15. During this time, children will be prepared to lead their grandparent/friend through activities for as long as they are able to stay. We hope this format accommodates both grandparents who have multiple children to visit by popping in for a bit as well as grandparents/friends who have one child to visit with. More details will be forthcoming as the date approaches.
After the program both of my classes of 3's students will head to the Media Center with their grandparents/friends for an activity! We will take grandparents and their students in groups down to see our room so it's not too crowded with our all students and their grandparents in it at one time!
**For my Monday/Wednesday Class: Your student and their grandparents/friends are also invited on THURSDAY, OCTOBER 3! I realize that this may be difficult for some of you to arrange rides, or switch childcare times. Wednesday, October 2 is going to be an optional day of school. So, if it works out better for you to send your child on Thursday instead of Wednesday, that it totally fine! If it works for you to send your child both days, that is also fine! :) We just wanted to make sure each child's grandparents had the opportunity to see the whole program, and have the total grandparents day experience!
If you have a grandparent who can not make it on October 3, but they would still like to see our room, let me know and I can set up a time!
Walk-A-Thon:
The paper in your child's Walk-A-Thon folder said that their money was due Friday. They are extending that date to Tuesday! So if you haven't given me your child's envelope yet, try to get it in either Monday or Tuesday!
Post Family Farms:
I just got some new information about our post-family farms trip!
We will meet at Post-Family Farms at 8:50! Please try your best to be on time! We will take a tour, and then have donuts all together as a class! Parents, you are expected to stay with your child for all of this field trip. Also, I just found out that it is $3 for parents attending. (If for some reason the money is an issue please talk to me!) The children and the donuts are covered, we just ask that adults pay for themselves!
