Week 3

What a week! :) 
We played a lot and learned new things too! This coming week we are going to start asking, "What names do we need to know at school?" This includes the names of some people who works here, our classmates names, and the names of parts of our building (like the gym and the library.) Feel free to ask your student what names they learned this week when you pick them up! 

Important Info: 
Walk-a-Thon Envelopes: Every year as a school we do a Walk-a-Thon to earn money for our class! This year will look a little different, but we still will be raising money for our class so we can get some science items and well as new books for out students to read! I know it's not much time, but please return your envelopes by Wednesday or Thursday this week! If you haven't seen the manilla folder with the informaiton in it, check your students folder! 

Picture Day: This week Wednesday (the 16th) and Thursday (the 17th) is picture day! We will be going down for pictures first thing in the morning! If you have not already seen the form for pictures, check your childs folder! For my Monday/Wednesday friends it will be coming home on Monday! If you would like to order pictures please put the completed form in your students folder on the morning of pictures! You also can order pictures online if that is your preference! 

Folders: Please make sure that you check your child's folder when we send it home! The students are excited for you to see what they have been working on :) 

Grandparents Day: This year our grandparents day will look different. I am starting to work on our grandparents day letters that we will be sending out! Please let me know this week how many sets of grandparents your student has and what they call them (Mimi and Papa or Nana and Bepa or Grams and Gramps...) This way we will be able to make it individualized to each set :) Feel free to email me with this info! 

 So far this year has been so much better than I ever hoped for. I have to say you all have some amazing children :) I LOVE working with them each week! Thank you so much for sharing them with me! They truly bring me so much joy!

 Hello Families!  This week we had fun celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with Maestra Fernandez's class! Throughout the year we will take a few opportunities to learn from our Spanish Immersion friends about some Latino culture and traditions!  We also went to the library for the first time this week! We talked about how we will let the kids borrow a book this week, and then they can bring it back and get a new one! There is a blue bin on the little table outside of my classroom labeled "library books". You may put your library books in there at any time! There is a limit of 6 books out at one time. If you have 6 out at once I will print out a list of the books you have at your house and send it home with your student so you know which books you're looking for.  Next week we will see you at Post Family Farm on Monday!  Hello Families!  Time is flying! We had lots of fun this week doing some cool experiments like color mixing! We will continue to enjoy our last few days together as we have lots of fun at all our events coming up!  Monday (the 26th): OFF for Memorial Day !  Wednesday (the 28th): Normal Day of Class Thursday (the 29th): Preschool Park Playdate! We will be hopping on a bus at 9 and heading over to Windstrom Park! You are welcome to meet us there and hang out! We will head back to school around 10:15. I am still looking for someone to bring popsicles for our class! Let me know if you'd be willing to bring some for us, either in the morning at drop off or to the park!  Monday (the 2nd): Our Preschool Brunch!  Hello Families!  This week we talked about some spring-time things and made the best of our rainy day by reading Cloudy With A Chance of Meatball and talking about what foods we want it to rain!  Next week we will be talking about Tulip Time and some Dutch things like windmills and wooden shoes!  From Rose Park: Library Books:   This week was the last week for students to borrow books from the Rose Park Library.  All student library materials are due by May 9. I sent home a list of all the books that your student has checked out so you can look for them over the weekend! If you need me to reprint your list, let me know! Plant Sale: The annual fourth grade plant sale is coming to Rose Park on May 21 starting at 7:30am.  They will be selling tomatoes, peppers, and a variety of herbs.  All plants will be $3.00 per pot, cash or check only.  Mark your calendars!
