Week 18

 Welcome Back!

I hope you all had a wonderful and restful break! We had an excellent first week back to school! Everyone exceeded my expectations and jumped back into our routines really well! I hope that was a similar case at home!

Our Christmas Party:
I have lots of pictures and videos from our parties! Unfortunately there is something about the size of the files that's not working between my phone, computer, and blogger. I have a friend who is going to help me get it all working this week, so stay tuned for a bonus blog this week!!

This past week:
This week we practiced putting on our snow clothes quite a bit and all your students are doing so well getting everything on! We also started talking about some arctic animals, which we will continue to do for most of this month! We also are going to start working on our letters! So far we haven't done a lot with them, but this second semester we are ready for it :)

Things to Know:

Substitute Thursday: This week Thursday, Mrs. VanDenBeldt will be subbing for me! I will tell my students on Tuesday to expect her!

Label Snow Clothes: We are doing so well at putting all of our snow clothes on! But we still have work to do to get everything in our backpacks and lockers when we come in. Please make sure you label all pieces of snow clothing! There are lots of mitten and snow pants that all look the same!

Indoor Shoes:  Our boots get wet outside often and indoor shoes help keep our classroom clean and dry :) If you want to put some in your students backpack each day, that's totally fine! Feel free to send a pair of indoor shoes that can stay at school if you want!

Assessments: This past week I started our mid-year assessments! This is when I sit down with each student and do a formal assessment of how much they have learned so far this semester! I will finish all assessments this week (assuming everyone is at school) and I will send home report cards on January 20 and 21. I will send each report card home with a letter that explains what everything means as well as where I expect each student to be!

Conferences: We will have virtual conferences the week of January 25. I will send out a sign-up genius the week of the 18th for you to sign up for a time to zoom with me! These are not required, but it is a great time for us to talk about report cards as well as what my recommendation would be for your student next year :) It also would be a great time for you all to ask any questions that you have! If none of the times during the week of the 25th work for you, we can arrange another time!

If you have questions about any of this, feel free to ask before or after class this week! Or as always, you can email, text, or call me!

Here are our pictures from this week:
