Week 23

 Hello Families!

This week we had so much fun talking about germs (and how much they don't like soap) and having our valentines day parties! We even did a science experiment on Monday and Tuesday with pepper, water and soap! We also had lots of fun passing out our valentines and celebrating our love for each other! 

Next week we will talk a little bit more about germs and how we can keep our bodies healthy through staying away from people who are sick and by covering our coughs and sneezes! 


Things To Know:

No School!: There is no school on Monday February 15! 

Library Books: Please try and round up library books this weekend! I have quite a few friends who have a few out! If you would like to know how many your student has out, feel free to email me! 

Items Needed: If you have any extra plastic sandwich bags and would like to donate them, we would really appreciate it! We use them often for lots of things and my stash is getting low. I also found out during our valentines party that everyone loved beading and making our valentines necklaces! If you have any beads lying around your house like this, we'd love to use them!

Optional Discipleship Practices At Home Activities During Lent
As we begin the journey to the cross through Lent, we want to walk with you and center ourselves around Christ; his death and resurrection. To do that together, on weekdays we will be posting on social media and the HC website, a short Bible passage and some conversation questions that revolve around Discipleship Practices (behaviors that are rooted in the Bible, Church History, and are used as our integration of faith in all that we do at HC). This is not a checklist, or to-do list, but simply a way we can partner together as we worship Christ in all things.

Holland Christian Schools is seeking people who want to build up and encourage young people and families through providing regular school bus transportation for students. Hours are flexible. We are seeking applicants who demonstrate a love for kids, careful, conscientious driving habits, and an interest in providing a needed service to the families of Holland Christian.  Hello Families!  We made it through our first week of school! We had SO much fun getting to know your students and teaching them some of our routines! In these next couple of weeks I am sure some of our friends will still feel some big emotions as they get used to the routine of coming to school. This is totally normal and we will keep giving lots of hugs and lots of encouragement!  Next week we will keep learning our school routines, and we will take our first field trip! On Wednesday we will get on a bus and head to the High School for our all School convocation.  Hello Families!  This week we had fun celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with Maestra Fernandez's class! Throughout the year we will take a few opportunities to learn from our Spanish Immersion friends about some Latino culture and traditions!  We also went to the library for the first time this week! We talked about how we will let the kids borrow a book this week, and then they can bring it back and get a new one! There is a blue bin on the little table outside of my classroom labeled "library books". You may put your library books in there at any time! There is a limit of 6 books out at one time. If you have 6 out at once I will print out a list of the books you have at your house and send it home with your student so you know which books you're looking for.  Next week we will see you at Post Family Farm on Monday!  Hello Families!  Time is flying! We had lots of fun this week doing some cool experiments like color mixing! We will continue to enjoy our last few days together as we have lots of fun at all our events coming up!  Monday (the 26th): OFF for Memorial Day !  Wednesday (the 28th): Normal Day of Class Thursday (the 29th): Preschool Park Playdate! We will be hopping on a bus at 9 and heading over to Windstrom Park! You are welcome to meet us there and hang out! We will head back to school around 10:15. I am still looking for someone to bring popsicles for our class! Let me know if you'd be willing to bring some for us, either in the morning at drop off or to the park!  Monday (the 2nd): Our Preschool Brunch!
