Weeks 9&10

Hello Families! 

We had lots of fun this week exploring our sense of hearing and our sense of sight! Next week we will look at our sense of touch, and our senses of smell and taste! We also are creating a book about our senses that will teach us about the different parts of a book! 


Things to Know:

- Cold/Rainy Weather: Make sure that your student is dressed appropriately for the weather! We will be going outside unless it is raining or if it is a real feel of zero or less. Also make sure that your student has an extra set of clothes in their backpack or locker in case they get wet on the playground outside! 


This Week in Enrichment:


Monday: We talked about the Holland Peanut Store and what our favorite candy is that we get there.

Tuesday: We went on a nature hunt to see how nature is changing around us with the season.

Wednesday: We played with movement dice and did yoga. 

Thursday: We went on a rainbow leaf hunt.

Friday: We painted pumpkins.


**We are running low on disinfectant wipes!! If you could please donate a container or two that would be appreciated. We use the wipes to wipe down our rest time mats everyday. There will be a box by the preschool doors outside of Mrs. Bouwman’s classroom. Thank you!

FOREST SCHOOL INCLUSIVE EDUCATION PARAPROFESSIONAL/RESOURCE CLASSROOM ASSISTANT

Holland Christian Schools is looking for an inclusive education paraprofessional/resource classroom assistant to provide assistance both to teachers and students within the K-2 Forest School setting. This position will support students both academically and social/emotionally throughout the school day. Please note that this is a three-year position funded by EANS (Emergency Assistance to Non-Public Schools) dollars, and that insurance/benefits are not provided. After three years, a determination will be made regarding the possibility of integrating this job into Holland Christian Schools regularized staffing. Please apply online here.

 Hello Families!  This week we had fun celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with Maestra Fernandez's class! Throughout the year we will take a few opportunities to learn from our Spanish Immersion friends about some Latino culture and traditions!  We also went to the library for the first time this week! We talked about how we will let the kids borrow a book this week, and then they can bring it back and get a new one! There is a blue bin on the little table outside of my classroom labeled "library books". You may put your library books in there at any time! There is a limit of 6 books out at one time. If you have 6 out at once I will print out a list of the books you have at your house and send it home with your student so you know which books you're looking for.  Next week we will see you at Post Family Farm on Monday!  Hello Families!  Time is flying! We had lots of fun this week doing some cool experiments like color mixing! We will continue to enjoy our last few days together as we have lots of fun at all our events coming up!  Monday (the 26th): OFF for Memorial Day !  Wednesday (the 28th): Normal Day of Class Thursday (the 29th): Preschool Park Playdate! We will be hopping on a bus at 9 and heading over to Windstrom Park! You are welcome to meet us there and hang out! We will head back to school around 10:15. I am still looking for someone to bring popsicles for our class! Let me know if you'd be willing to bring some for us, either in the morning at drop off or to the park!  Monday (the 2nd): Our Preschool Brunch!  Hello Families!  This week we talked about some spring-time things and made the best of our rainy day by reading Cloudy With A Chance of Meatball and talking about what foods we want it to rain!  Next week we will be talking about Tulip Time and some Dutch things like windmills and wooden shoes!  From Rose Park: Library Books:   This week was the last week for students to borrow books from the Rose Park Library.  All student library materials are due by May 9. I sent home a list of all the books that your student has checked out so you can look for them over the weekend! If you need me to reprint your list, let me know! Plant Sale: The annual fourth grade plant sale is coming to Rose Park on May 21 starting at 7:30am.  They will be selling tomatoes, peppers, and a variety of herbs.  All plants will be $3.00 per pot, cash or check only.  Mark your calendars!
