Our First Week

 Hello Families!

We made it through our first week! It was so much fun to see and start to get to know each of your sweet children. This is going to be a very fun year and I can't wait to continue to get to know each of them! 

This week we have mostly been playing and getting to know each other. Next week we will continue to work on learning each others names and we will start to learn about each center in our room and how to properly use them.


Things to Know:

Wednesday, August 31: All-School Convocation. On Wednesday my Monday/Wednesday friends will take their first field trip over to the High School. Any Tuesday/Thursday students who wish to come may meet us there with a parent. It is from 9-9:30 and assuming the weather is nice, we will be in the new stadium. Monday/Wednesday friends will be dropped off at our normal time (8:15-8:30) and picked up at our normal time (11:15).

September 26 & 27: Post Family Farms Field Trip. We will be going to Post Family Farms! We will meet at the farm at 9 and spend the morning together going on hay rides and picking pumpkins! Please note that we require an adult to attend this field trip with each student. If you are struggling to find an adult to accompany your child, please let me know! The cost is $3 per student (which covers the tour and a donut and cider).

 Hello Families!  This week we had fun celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with Maestra Fernandez's class! Throughout the year we will take a few opportunities to learn from our Spanish Immersion friends about some Latino culture and traditions!  We also went to the library for the first time this week! We talked about how we will let the kids borrow a book this week, and then they can bring it back and get a new one! There is a blue bin on the little table outside of my classroom labeled "library books". You may put your library books in there at any time! There is a limit of 6 books out at one time. If you have 6 out at once I will print out a list of the books you have at your house and send it home with your student so you know which books you're looking for.  Next week we will see you at Post Family Farm on Monday! Week 38

 Hello Families!  Time is flying! We had lots of fun this week doing some cool experiments like color mixing! We will continue to enjoy our last few days together as we have lots of fun at all our events coming up!  Monday (the 26th): OFF for Memorial Day !  Wednesday (the 28th): Normal Day of Class Thursday (the 29th): Preschool Park Playdate! We will be hopping on a bus at 9 and heading over to Windstrom Park! You are welcome to meet us there and hang out! We will head back to school around 10:15. I am still looking for someone to bring popsicles for our class! Let me know if you'd be willing to bring some for us, either in the morning at drop off or to the park!  Monday (the 2nd): Our Preschool Brunch!  Hello Families!  This week we talked about some spring-time things and made the best of our rainy day by reading Cloudy With A Chance of Meatball and talking about what foods we want it to rain!  Next week we will be talking about Tulip Time and some Dutch things like windmills and wooden shoes!  From Rose Park: Library Books:   This week was the last week for students to borrow books from the Rose Park Library.  All student library materials are due by May 9. I sent home a list of all the books that your student has checked out so you can look for them over the weekend! If you need me to reprint your list, let me know! Plant Sale: The annual fourth grade plant sale is coming to Rose Park on May 21 starting at 7:30am.  They will be selling tomatoes, peppers, and a variety of herbs.  All plants will be $3.00 per pot, cash or check only.  Mark your calendars!
