Week 16

Hello Families!

We had such a fun week celebrating Christmas! We talked about all of the gifts that God has given us (like families, houses, and friends) but we also started to talk about hope and what we can put our hope it. We talked about how we can put our hope in God because He will always take care of us even if things seem scary or bad. We used the stories of Joseph and Ruth to try and illustrate this point!  

Next week we will start to talk about each character in the Christmas story starting with Mary, Joseph and the Shepards!


Christmas Dates:

Thursday, December 14: "Ugly" Sweater Party! Wear one if you have one! 

Wednesday, December 20: Christmas Party! Wear your festive Christmas clothes and we will be having lots of Christmas fun! 

Thursday, December 21: PJ Day! You may take 1 stuffy or blanket and wear your jammies so we can have a fun movie day with our buddies!

  • Tech Devices at School

    • As we’re entering gift-giving season, we’ve been noticing a few children showing off smart watches and devices that have connectivity outside of school. Your child’s safety and mental wellness is our priority. To that end, children are not permitted to bring devices that have connectivity outside of school. This policy is meant for your child’s well-being as well as that of classmates Thank you for your mindfulness and partnership!  Please note this policy that holds preschool through 12th grade at Holland Christian: 

Personal Technology: Personal Technology is not necessary in a school setting and disrupts the learning environment. Personal Technology includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Cell Phones

  • Smartwatches

  • Headphones or Earbuds

  • Personal Laptops

  • MP3-Players

  • Etc. (i.e. Any non-school issued personal technology)

If parents need to communicate with their student, they can send their student an email or call the office and get a note from the office.  Personal Technology items are not allowed to be used or visible during the time a student enters school until the final bell rings. If a student needs to use their phone, they must receive direct permission from a staff person to do so. 

  • Maroon and White Shop at Rose Park: Save the dates for December 13 + 14 - The Maroon and White Shop will be present Wednesday (at pick-up), and Thursday morning. If you desire to grab any HC gear for presents this year, make  a note to stop by!

Our First Week!

 Hello Families!  We made it through our first week of school! We had SO much fun getting to know your students and teaching them some of our routines! In these next couple of weeks I am sure some of our friends will still feel some big emotions as they get used to the routine of coming to school. This is totally normal and we will keep giving lots of hugs and lots of encouragement!  Next week we will keep learning our school routines, and we will take our first field trip! On Wednesday we will get on a bus and head to the High School for our all School convocation. If possible, please drop your child off by 8:20 so we can get to the bus on time.  Things To Know:  Walk-a-thon T-shirt: There is a QR code outside of my room to sign up your student for a walk-a-thon t shirt.  Hello Families!  This week we had fun celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with Maestra Fernandez's class! Throughout the year we will take a few opportunities to learn from our Spanish Immersion friends about some Latino culture and traditions!  We also went to the library for the first time this week! We talked about how we will let the kids borrow a book this week, and then they can bring it back and get a new one! There is a blue bin on the little table outside of my classroom labeled "library books". You may put your library books in there at any time! There is a limit of 6 books out at one time. If you have 6 out at once I will print out a list of the books you have at your house and send it home with your student so you know which books you're looking for.  Next week we will see you at Post Family Farm on Monday!  Hello Families!  Time is flying! We had lots of fun this week doing some cool experiments like color mixing! We will continue to enjoy our last few days together as we have lots of fun at all our events coming up!  Monday (the 26th): OFF for Memorial Day !  Wednesday (the 28th): Normal Day of Class Thursday (the 29th): Preschool Park Playdate! We will be hopping on a bus at 9 and heading over to Windstrom Park! You are welcome to meet us there and hang out! We will head back to school around 10:15. I am still looking for someone to bring popsicles for our class! Let me know if you'd be willing to bring some for us, either in the morning at drop off or to the park!  Monday (the 2nd): Our Preschool Brunch!
