Week 33

 Hello Families

We had a great time playing in the rain and finishing up our weather unit this week! Next week we will be talking about Tulip Time and some of our Dutch roots :) If you go downtown or to windmill island this weekend and take some pictures, please send them my way! We would love to be able to look at them as we learn about tulips, windmills, wooden shoes... Thank you! 


Things to Know:

Library Books: Next week will be our last week to check out books at the library. I will send home a copy of the list of books that are checked out to your student on Wednesday. All books are due by May 17.

Half Day Thursday:  Next week Thursday is a half day, which means that dismissal for everyone will be at 11:15. My full-day friends, there will be no afternoon class. Everyone else, the parking lot will be busier than normal, so please be patient! Thank you! 

End of Year Dates:

- All-School Convocation: May 15- at the High School.
- Memorial Day: May 27- No School
- All-Preschool Park Play Day: May 30- At Windstrom Park, we will take buses over to the park and have a morning to play together! Parents and siblings are welcome to come and join us at the park! I would love 2 volunteers to bring popsicles for our friends to eat there! 
- Last Day of School: June 5- Half Day

Our First Week!

 Hello Families!  We made it through our first week of school! We had SO much fun getting to know your students and teaching them some of our routines! In these next couple of weeks I am sure some of our friends will still feel some big emotions as they get used to the routine of coming to school. This is totally normal and we will keep giving lots of hugs and lots of encouragement!  Next week we will keep learning our school routines, and we will take our first field trip! On Wednesday we will get on a bus and head to the High School for our all School convocation. If possible, please drop your child off by 8:20 so we can get to the bus on time.  Things To Know:  Walk-a-thon T-shirt: There is a QR code outside of my room to sign up your student for a walk-a-thon t shirt.  Hello Families!  This week we had fun celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with Maestra Fernandez's class! Throughout the year we will take a few opportunities to learn from our Spanish Immersion friends about some Latino culture and traditions!  We also went to the library for the first time this week! We talked about how we will let the kids borrow a book this week, and then they can bring it back and get a new one! There is a blue bin on the little table outside of my classroom labeled "library books". You may put your library books in there at any time! There is a limit of 6 books out at one time. If you have 6 out at once I will print out a list of the books you have at your house and send it home with your student so you know which books you're looking for.  Next week we will see you at Post Family Farm on Monday!  Hello Families!  Time is flying! We had lots of fun this week doing some cool experiments like color mixing! We will continue to enjoy our last few days together as we have lots of fun at all our events coming up!  Monday (the 26th): OFF for Memorial Day !  Wednesday (the 28th): Normal Day of Class Thursday (the 29th): Preschool Park Playdate! We will be hopping on a bus at 9 and heading over to Windstrom Park! You are welcome to meet us there and hang out! We will head back to school around 10:15. I am still looking for someone to bring popsicles for our class! Let me know if you'd be willing to bring some for us, either in the morning at drop off or to the park!  Monday (the 2nd): Our Preschool Brunch!
