Our First Week!

Hello Families! 

We made it through the first week! We had so much fun getting to know all your sweet boys and girls! This is going to be a very fun year! 

Next week, we will be experiencing a few new things! 

On Monday we will be going to chapel for the first time with all the other girls and boys at Rose Park! We will be sitting with our buddies (Mrs. Diekema's third grade class, that we met today!)

On Wednesday, we will be going to the High School for our all-school convocation! We will all meet at Rose Park and do our normal drop-off in my classroom. Then our class will get on a school bus and drive over to the High School. We will all sit together, enjoy our time with everyone else, then we will come back and finish our day "normally." If the weather is nice, we will all sit outside in the bleachers at the football stadium, so make sure your child has a jacket if it's a chilly morning! 


Reminders/Announcements:

Sign-In/Out: Please do your best to remember to sign your student in and out! It's very helpful for us! 

Paperwork: Next week Monday and Tuesday I will be looking at all of the paperwork we have and I will email you if I am missing anything. 

Post Family Farms: We will be going to Post Family Farms on September 23! This field trip requires someone to accompany your child for the morning at the farm. There will be more details to follow, but make sure you find someone to spend the morning with your student.

Grandparents Day: Grandparents day will be October 3! Please pass that date along to any grandparents that are interested in spending a few hours here with their grandchild! There will be more details in the next few weeks! 


From Rose Park: 

Rose Park Chapel: Preschool - 5th Grade (All school) Chapel worship will take place on Mondays from 10:30-11:00. Feel free to join us in chapel if your schedule allows. For safety and security purposes we ask that you first check in at the office. We will give you a visitor badge and we’ll welcome you in the small gym for worship and learning.

Communication: Please email your child’s teacher and rp@hollandchristian.org if you need to pick up your child early or if your child’s attendance will need to be adjusted.

School Pictures: Geskus will be taking our school photos Wednesday and Thursday September 11 & 12 - more specific information coming soon!

Normally, this part of the blog contains lots of pictures from our week! This week we spent most of our time trying to get to know everyone and making sure everyone felt seen and loved! Next week, we will have pictures up, but this week we just didn't quite get to it.

 Hello Families!  This week we had fun celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with Maestra Fernandez's class! Throughout the year we will take a few opportunities to learn from our Spanish Immersion friends about some Latino culture and traditions!  We also went to the library for the first time this week! We talked about how we will let the kids borrow a book this week, and then they can bring it back and get a new one! There is a blue bin on the little table outside of my classroom labeled "library books". You may put your library books in there at any time! There is a limit of 6 books out at one time. If you have 6 out at once I will print out a list of the books you have at your house and send it home with your student so you know which books you're looking for.  Next week we will see you at Post Family Farm on Monday!  Hello Families!  Time is flying! We had lots of fun this week doing some cool experiments like color mixing! We will continue to enjoy our last few days together as we have lots of fun at all our events coming up!  Monday (the 26th): OFF for Memorial Day !  Wednesday (the 28th): Normal Day of Class Thursday (the 29th): Preschool Park Playdate! We will be hopping on a bus at 9 and heading over to Windstrom Park! You are welcome to meet us there and hang out! We will head back to school around 10:15. I am still looking for someone to bring popsicles for our class! Let me know if you'd be willing to bring some for us, either in the morning at drop off or to the park!  Monday (the 2nd): Our Preschool Brunch!  Hello Families!  This week we talked about some spring-time things and made the best of our rainy day by reading Cloudy With A Chance of Meatball and talking about what foods we want it to rain!  Next week we will be talking about Tulip Time and some Dutch things like windmills and wooden shoes!  From Rose Park: Library Books:   This week was the last week for students to borrow books from the Rose Park Library.  All student library materials are due by May 9. I sent home a list of all the books that your student has checked out so you can look for them over the weekend! If you need me to reprint your list, let me know! Plant Sale: The annual fourth grade plant sale is coming to Rose Park on May 21 starting at 7:30am.  They will be selling tomatoes, peppers, and a variety of herbs.  All plants will be $3.00 per pot, cash or check only.  Mark your calendars!
